Students wearing beautiful dresses and stylish suits flooded into the International Academy East. They were greeted by their teachers, Ms. Lewis, Mrs. Beski, and Mr. Griffin, who were checking in their tickets and handing out wristbands. There were many other teachers helping out and chaperoning the dance including: Ms. Krutty, Ms. Ellul, Ms. Guibord, and Ms. Pickering.
Inside the cafeteria, there were colorful balloons, glow sticks, and black lights all part of this year’s “Glow in the Dark” theme. The beautiful decorations were all planned and organized thanks to the student leadership class at IA who did an amazing job filling the hallways of IA with vibrancy and radiance. Boys and girls wore white and were glowing in dark with the effect of the black lights. Some students were wearing LED light up shoes, adding more color and light to the night. In the gym there were refreshments and tables for students to keep their coats, grab a snack, and socialize with their friends. In the hallway, there was a beautiful backdrop where students gathered with their friends and posed for pictures.
Crowds and crowds of students and guests danced as they listened to the music provided by a fellow student, Naman Gupta, aka “DJ Namix” who did an amazing job fulfilling song requests as well as playing throwback and newer songs. Everyone was getting pumped up and putting their hands in the air during throwbacks songs like: “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love ft. Pitbull” by Usher, “Dynamite’ by Taio Cruz, “Glad you Came” by The Wanted, and “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus. And also during newer songs such as: “Starboy” by The Weeknd and “Broccoli ft. Lil Yachty” by D.R.A.M. Girls and boys also slow danced to songs like: “See you again ft. Charlie Puth” by Wiz Khalifa and “Latch ft. Sam Smith” by Disclosure. The girls dazzled with their dresses but the boys glowed as well while enjoying one of the most enjoyable nights of their school year.
